Passage: Psalm 148
Duration: 14 mins
As we gather in praise, we discover that as beings made by God we are not separate, but part of the evolving, breathing, moving creation that is alive with worship for our God.

The words of Scripture and the language of faith are "not too difficult for us or beyond our reach." We find instead that they are near to us, part of a love story that is sweet to tell.

To speak openly of our faith begins with admitting our vulnerability to sin, need for salvation, and the liberation that comes from conversion. Our worship and prayer help us to enact that goodness and salvation in our lives and world.

Encounters with beauty, awareness, and curiosity can open our eyes to God's transcendent presence in our world and inspire us to speak from "the humility that comes from wisdom" rooted in the awe of God.

As we again ask, "What are we, as EGMC, feeling called to release? What needs to die?" and "What are we, as EGMC, feeling called to cultivate? What is starting to grow?" We acknowledge the many distractions and commitments that can keep us from the path of Christ. Are we really ready to follow Jesus wherever he goes?

Passage: Luke 8:26-39
Duration: 26 mins
As we again ask "What are we, as EGMC, feeling called to release? What needs to die?" and "What are we, as EGMC, feeling called to cultivate? What is starting to grow?", we recognize the temptation to fear disruption and change, even in the evidence of Jesus' healing power. Those whose lives have been changed by Jesus, though, are sent to "declare how much God has done" for us.

Welcoming the transformative work of the Holy Spirit in our congregations, we are liberated from a static understanding of the church, which too often inclines us to become allies of the status quo. As we open ourselves to the recreating and animating power of the Holy Spirit, we become agents of healing and hope in the world.

Passage: Luke 24:1-12
Duration: 25 mins
When the women find the tomb empty, even as they are stunned by the presence and words of the men in dazzling clothing, they return to their deep knowing and allow themselves to receive the expansiveness of resurrection. Surrounded by disciples who refuse to believe such expansive life, Peter is curious enough to return to the tomb, and as a result, he is filled with amazement and awe. Can we be curious enough to return and remember? Can we allow ourselves to be filled with expansive hope? Can we trust in the expansive promise of new life, and carry that promise with us wherever we go?

Passage: Luke 19:28-40
Duration: 29 mins
As Jesus enters Jerusalem, the multitude of disciples begins joyfully to shout with praise. The Pharisees try to silence them, but Jesus responds: “I tell you, even if these were silent, the stones would shout out.” As we begin our walk through Holy Week, let us ask: What can’t be silenced? What is bubbling up that we need to give voice to?

God is brazen in turning tears into joy. Surrounded by death, Mary and Martha joyfully welcome Jesus into their home. Mary pours out fragrant perfume and it fills the whole room. This is a brazen act of beauty. Beauty is resistance to death; beauty is an act of love. Her faith does not hide and it is not frugal. Mary exhibits a risky, extravagant, shameless faith. How might we be called to brazen, abundant, broken-open acts of beautiful faith?
