What is the Food Pantry?

People in need from the Goshen community come every Tuesday, from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm, into the southwest entry of the church building to receive assistance with non-perishable food items, bread, essential household supplies, and personal hygiene items.

Who is eligible to receive assistance?

Our guests are women, men and families who live in Goshen.  We do not ask anyone to give us any personal information beyond their name, address (we request a photo ID) and phone number. We will assist each household one time per calendar month.

How can I help?

We depend on donations to provide all of our resources. Some people give food items, but the majority of what we give away is purchased at the Northern Indiana Food Bank with money donated by people inside and outside our congregation. Make checks payable to East Goshen Mennonite Church and simply write "Food Pantry" in the memo line.

The Food Pantry is primarily staffed by people who are willing to do things like offer hospitality to guests, stock shelves, and transport boxes from the Food Bank.  We would welcome your assistance with these tasks.

The pantry has been busier than ever since the closing of another prominent pantry in the community.

We pray that all who walk through the doors of our building are blessed with friendship, something that will help with their physical need, and the touch of Christ's love.
